Tishman Speyer Levels Up.
Big tech offices in South San Francisco are sometimes a hard sell in normal times let alone in a pandemic. With several rentals turning over, Tishman Speyer hired a young leasing agent to get those units filled. The agent sought to promote the spaces with beautiful photography. A few years earlier, he had been referred to us, had always wanted to use us, and now was the time. During the pandemic we went in and (honoring every health and safety precaution) captured amazing new photography of those rentals. Long story short—the spaces got leased, the agent got a promotion and we got to be heroes!
Even though we are nowhere near returning to normal, the city started to open up a little and we were able to take the first shots since lock down. Fortunately we had scouted already, so we were primed to shoot the six buildings. It took five 14-hour days. The area was completely deserted, like a ghost town. We had no services and no help. It was like the Wild West. We had planned to shoot a building a day, but that didn’t happen. The first day we had bad weather. Then there were all kinds of construction vehicles in the way and the city wasn’t going to do anything about it. There was no towing in a pandemic. We were seriously screwed. We had to make new plans every day.
We shot parts of different buildings as they became available and in some of the shots we used wigs and wardrobe changes to make two of our assistants look like twelve people. We took a little creative license to show social space, but whatever it took!
Though the project felt like total chaos, we pulled it off. Tishman Speyer was more than pleased and admittedly so were we.
