Kilroy Oyster Point: A Campus Built for Impact

Kilroy Oyster Point is a multi-building life science campus just three miles north of the San Francisco airport. It’s one of my favorite kinds of projects — and honestly, one of the best projects I’ve ever worked on. It also happens to be the crown jewel for my favorite client, Kilroy Realty Corporation, known for creating innovative office campuses along the West Coast (and now a little in Austin too).

This campus sits right on the bay, with lush grounds designed by the same landscape architect behind New York’s High Line. Imagine going to work every day with no cubicle walls blocking your view — just open water, green spaces, and architecture that inspires. That’s Kilroy Oyster Point.

Capturing Every Angle

We first came in to photograph the art installations, which quickly grew into a much bigger story: architectural photography of the entire campus, two art documentary films, a leasing video, and a series of stills where the art itself became the hero.

From day one, this project was a powerhouse. I pulled in my crew — Jesse and Leah — because this was going to be a big production. Leah coordinated the models and video shoots, Jesse kept everything on track on-set, and I focused on capturing the right angles, planning the production, and making sure every detail balanced out.

Drone flights, specialty cameras, full crews, food, clients, models, even Homeland Security (long story — but yes, they weren’t thrilled with our drones at first). It took incredible coordination, but we pulled it off.

The Campus Experience

What I appreciate about Kilroy Oyster Point is that it’s more than just office buildings. It’s outdoor amphitheaters that light up like a concert, wellness centers, gyms, and green spaces designed to give life science professionals room to breathe.

For scientists in such high-pressure roles, being able to step outside into a lush courtyard, or reset in a gym with natural light, makes all the difference. Kilroy gets that. Their commitment to wellness, art, and mental health shows up everywhere across this campus.

Lasting Impact

We’ve documented this campus from the ground up — from dirt lots to lush courtyards — and it’s still evolving. Along the way, we’ve created:

  • Two artist documentaries

  • A leasing video

  • Architectural photography

  • Art photography

  • Candid photography

This project is what I like to call an “enterprise project” — something that keeps growing and generating new stories for years. The photos and videos will live on, drawing in tenants and telling Kilroy’s story in a way that design alone never could.

Kilroy Oyster Point isn’t just a campus. It’s a space of impact — a place where design, art, and human experience come together. And being able to capture that has been one of the most rewarding projects of my career.
