Dropping Everything for Art.

When I think back to this project, what stands out is the urgency and excitement. It was October 29, 2020, smack in the middle of the pandemic. We had just wrapped a month-long production for Kilroy’s Netflix campus reveal. It was an intense project, and we had just launched the 30-minute video to rave reviews.

The very next morning, I get a call from Kilroy: “Three 12-foot sculptures are on a truck to Seattle for an art installation—can you film it?”

Are you kidding me? This is what I live for. My team rallied immediately, and by noon we were on the road. No flights were running, so we drove in shifts to make it there before the tower crane lowered those three massive sculptures into place at Apple’s new Seattle campus. Timing was everything.

And, of course, when we got there, everything was chaos. The site was a mud pit, the hotel had been turned into a homeless shelter, and all the restaurants were closed due to COVID. But we pushed through, captured every shot, and brought Kilroy’s vision to life.

Why Video? Because This Sculpture Lives

This wasn’t just an art installation—it was alive. A five-story mirror sculpture that reflects the entire world around it. You can’t capture that with just a photo. You need to see the way light moves around it, the way people interact with it. This sculpture literally plays with its surroundings, including Seattle’s iconic Space Needle.

Kilroy saw 333 Dexter as a benchmark project, not just for Apple but for Seattle itself. Video was the only way to truly capture that energy and story—Kilroy’s story, Apple’s story, and Seattle’s story, all in one.

The Kilroy Standard: Always Aim for WOW

Kilroy pushes us to deliver greatness every time. They wanted jaw-dropping architectural photography and breathtaking video that lived up to their commitment to blending art with architecture. The installation is in the heart of Seattle, just blocks from the Space Needle—this was a public art display that had to "wow" everyone who saw it.

And that’s exactly what we did.

The Race Against Time

Four seconds. That’s how much notice we got to shoot this project—or at least it felt like that. We had just one day to capture it all, but really, this project had been in the works for five years.

I had visited John Krawczyk’s studio in Malibu years before to document the early stages of this artwork, capturing behind-the-scenes footage of John in action. We filmed every step of the process, from conception to installation. In the end, it wasn’t just a one-day shoot—it was a long-term vision brought to life.

Sharing the Magic with the World

Kilroy knows how to leverage their projects. They used our architectural photography and video across all platforms—on their website, in promotional campaigns, and even at investor events. The content we produced became a cornerstone of their marketing strategy, showcasing their cutting-edge approach to art and architecture in Seattle.

Kilroy understands that photography alone won’t always tell the full story. Our video gave them a dynamic way to connect with a global audience and showcase their world-class projects.

Feedback that Shines

The response has been huge. People love the artwork, and Apple loves the building. The video and photos helped Kilroy showcase this project to the world.

When you’re working on a project for years, you need a way to share it with the world. That’s where filmmaking comes in—it lets the world see the story behind the work, and that helps people connect with it on a deeper level.

A Dream Project for an Art Lover
This project was a dream come true. Art, architecture, and a major public installation in one of my favorite cities—what more could I ask for? The challenges were real, but that’s what makes projects like this exciting.

And a big shoutout to DeeDee Postle Krawczyk, Kilroy’s art consultant (and John’s wife), who played a huge role in this and many other projects. She’s the behind-the-scenes mastermind who curates Kilroy’s incredible art collections across their properties. We’ve worked together for years, and her vision is unmatched.
